Computer Information Systems 1 (BCIS 1)
Students
will learn word processing technology including business letters,
reports, newsletters, tables, and resumes. Applications for
spreadsheets will include formulas, percentages, decimals, charts
and graphs. Application for databases will include sorting and
organizing data, searches and queries, and data retrieval. An
introduction to desktop publishing will include creating templates,
using drawing tools and fills, importing and working with graphics,
column layouts, and drop caps. Students will also create and
deliver multimedia presentations. They will learn appropriate
search strategies for successful navigation of the Internet.
Fulfills technology requirements for all diplomas.

Computer Information Systems 2 (BCIS 2)
An
advanced study of the concepts and skills presented in BCIS
1. Emphasis will be placed upon desktop publishing and presentation
graphics, spreadsheet technology, and the skills needed in business.
Lab fee of $8.50 required.

Microsoft
Office
This
course is designed to allow students to obtain Microsoft Certification
in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, The course is divided
into four parts in order to learn all features of each application.
At the end of each unit, the students travel to a certified
testing center to take each test. The object of the course is
to become Master Certified in Microsoft Office. Interested students
must complete an application in the Spring of the year for acceptance
into the next year's program.

Desktop
Publishing
Students
will learn the basic elements of page design, including text,
graphics, headlines, leading/kerning, balance, consistency,
alignment, proximity, and white space. They will use type techniques
such as drop cap and embedded-text frames, and apply the basics
of type measurement for inches and picas. Students will create
effective designs using manipulation tools to stretch, bend,
screen, rotate, or mirror type. They will use style sheets and
print options will include tiling, color separations, and collation.

Digital
Technology
Students
will learn fundamental concepts of graphics design, color mixing,
balance, symmetry, and basic sound editing principles. Course
introduces students to 3-D modeling, rendering techniques, and
animation. Students will integrate software and use task-appropriate
peripherals such as printers, CD-ROM, scanners, and digital
cameras. The Internet will be used for information acquisition
(text, audio, video, graphics) and evaluation.

Webmastering
Students
will utilize appropriate search strategies (keyword and Boolean)
for obtaining information from the Internet. Students will evaluate
the design and functionality of web pages and then create and
edit web pages integrating appropriate productivity tools (scanners,
digital cameras, and various software types). Students will
learn common web page formats and functions. They will learn
how to use HTML and create buttons, thumbnails, tables, image
maps, frames, and forms. They will also work with backgrounds,
graphics, and sound files. Students will maintain the official
web site for Hudson High School, as well as have the opportunity
to create and/or maintain commercial web sites.

Introduction
to keeping records for a sole proprietorship, partnership, and
corporation. Includes ledgers, payroll, depreciation, inventory,
adjustments, and financial statements. Includes computer accounting
applications.

Introduces law and the origins and necessity of the legal system;
provides insight into the evolution nd development of laws that
govern business in our society; develops an understanding of

Imaging Multimedia
The
students will investigate, design, and produce communication
and animation products using appropriate design processes and
techniques, tools, equipment, machines, and materials. Students
will demonstrate proper equipment, maintenance, management,
and safety regulations. They will master problem solving, critical
thinking, and making decisions. Production costs, math, science,
communication activities, and marketing strategies will be explored.
Emphasis is on teamwork, leadership, integrity, honesty, work
habits, and organization skills.

Aided Drafting - (CAD)
This
class will enable students to draw objects on the computer with
extreme precision. Students who enjoy drawing and mathematics
would be excellent candidates for this challenging, but fun,
class.
