will also be a more in-depth study in drawing, art history,

is flexible in scope allowing students to make choices from
a broad range of art areas. Some students want to continue studying
the visual arts as the basis for a career while others are interested

Band
Course
is a full year laboratory for students of instrumental music.
It provides students with the opportunity to develop performance
skills and to become acquainted with band literature. Attention
is given to all details of performance including tone, quality,
rhythm, technique, intonation, phrasing style, balance, and
blend. The music prepared by the band ranges from marches to
symphonic arrangements, including both traditional and modern
selections. Students are encouraged to pursue UIL solo and small
ensemble competition and TMEA All Region Band auditions. Uniforms
are required at student's expense.

Percussion Band
Full year laboratory for students with interest in a musical instrument (such as drum, xylophone, or maraca) sounded by striking, shaking, or scraping. No equipment is required.

Girls'
Choir
Female
students will learn the basic vocal production, group vocal
techniques, and sight-reading. Students will perform at UIL
Concert and Sight-Reading Contest and on a minimum of two (2)
co-curricular choir concerts. Uniform is required at student's
expense.

Mixed
Choir
Auditioned
choir for male and female students who wish to pursue an advanced
musical performance outlet. This choir performs music from various
periods of history as well as "pop" music. UIL Solo
and Ensemble Contest and TMEA Region/State competition are strongly
recommended. Students will perform at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading
Contest and at a minimum of two (2) co-curricular choir concerts.
Uniform is required at student's expense.

advanced ensemble whose members learn a minimum of two (2) completely
choreographed "pop" shows to perform in the community.
Students are expected to attend after-school rehearsals. Uniforms

Students
will be provided opportunities to develop vocal expression and
characterization through participation in children's theater,
improvisation, pantomime, and humorous and dramatic acting scenes.
Students will also explore basic aspects of play production
and the study of play structure.

Students will continue to build on the foundation established in Theatre Arts 1. This is a project-based class allowing students to develop their particular area of interest. Theatre history is explored with emphasis on one or two periods

Students
will be provided opportunities to develop acting skills by participation
in audition, rehearsal, performance. Students will also explore
technical theatre by participation on technical crews and technical

Students
will be provided opportunities to learn about theater set design
and construction, make-up, special effects, and light design
and its application.
