Education
This course emphasizes the care of the body systems and their
functions including mental health and well-being, nutrition,
exercise, rest, and recreation. Also includes responsible behavior
concerning alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs and controlling,
treatment, and prevention of diseases. Required for graduation.

Foundations
of Personal Fitness
This
course is the textbook portion of physical education and is
required for graduation. The basic purpose of this course is
to motivate students to strive for lifetime personal fitness
with an emphasis on the health-related components of physical
fitness.

Physical
Education- Individual Sports
This
course provides students with an opportunity to develop physical
abilities as well as mental, social, and emotional abilities.
Activities include physical fitness such as aerobics, track
and field, and weight training; life long sports such as golf
and tennis, and dual sports such as ping-pong and badminton.

This
course provides students with an opportunity to develop physical
abilities as well as mental, social, and emotional abilities.
Activities include basketball, soccer, flag football, volleyball,
and softball.

Adventure
Outdoor Education
Introduction
to outdoor sports with emphasis on bass angling. Topics to covered
include safety, equipment, and technique.

Athletics
Athletics
is provided as an extra-curricular activity for both male and
female students who possess such abilities. Mental and social
growth are stressed along with an emphasis on emotional control,
proper attitude, team work, and maintenance of eligibility through
grades. Off season programs are provided for the athletes when
their sport is not in season to further enhance their effectiveness
in competition. Hudson competes in UIL basketball, baseball,
softball, cross country, track, golf, soccer, and tennis for
both males and females.

Cheerleading
Athletic course that provides the opportunity for dance,
tumbling, and building skills. Cheerleaders perform at athletic
events.

Dance
Team
Athletic course emphasizing the skills of dance, stretching,
and kicking. Performances are required at athletic events.

NOTE:
Students may not receive more than two State graduation credits
in physical education. Students in athletics earn local credits
for participation in sports after the first two years/credits.
Local credit for physical education classes after the two (2)
maximum credits allowed by the State of Texas is not available.
Also, team managers do not receive PE or Athletic credit. They
earn local credits as an aide for a maximum of two years. Managers
must take PE or participate in other TEA approved substitutes
for PE such as Band, PE, Dance, or a vocational program to earn
physical education credit.
