New Business:

New members were introduced.

Mr. Webb distributed and briefly reviewed the process and policies of Hudson High School’s SBDM. The main purpose of the SBDM was to bring collective information and concerns to the Principal’s attention. We are to meet to discuss issues and not to meet at a specified time and date.

School Report Card:
Highlighted last year’s results; i.e., TAKS, attendance, AP, et. al.
Used to develop Campus Plans during summer

Campus Report Card:
Presented to school board in December, 2004 by Donny Webb. Mr. Webb covered highlights of his School Board report.

Tardy Policy:
P.T. Walters reviewed the Tardy Policy that was revised by last year’s SBDM committee. Thursday p.m. detention was not successful and is not being enforced at this point. Mr. Walters requested that the Tardy policy be enhanced. Tardies will count as part of absences...the law states “day or part of day”. Donny Webb described pro and cons of tardy policy. Kristel Johnson moved to change the wording on the policy to include attendance. Motion carried.

Action Item:
P.T. Walters will send revised paragraph on tardies to members of SBDM.

Master Schedule/ Program Changes:
Donny Webb discussed how current Advanced Placement operates and how the test results have been in AP English. Dual Credit Courses, which we have presently in US History, Sociology, and Psychology, was discussed as a possible alternative to AP English. This would afford students the opportunity to possibly have their college requirements for Freshman English satisfied. Career Pathway courses were also discussed as a means for students to obtain college credit while in high school. After discussion among members referencing the pros and cons of Dual Credit vs AP, it was stressed to present the parents with pros and cons. Committee would like to see AP/Dual Credit classes in the curriculum. Advanced Placement does not have to be open enrollment. Criteria must be established and valid. Further investigations will be necessary. Faculty will forward their thoughts to Mr. Largent who will act as a filter for SBDM.

Liz Darr will maintain stats with minutes.

Meeting Adjourned 5:45 p.m.

Minutes respectfully submitted,

Liz Darr
