Substitute Teacher Information

Quality substitute teachers are a vital component of a school district.  HISD has established the following handbook, and supplemental materials to better prepare substitute teachers for their experience in district classrooms.  All training materials, required documentation, and verification oath are linked to webpage.

All perspective substitutes are required to complete a Substitute Training Course and complete required paperwork prior to employment. Candidates for employment as substitute teachers are required to:  
  (1) verify they have read the Substitute Teacher Handbook and understand what is expected of them as a substitute teacher; and
  (2) verify they have read the Student Handbook (English)   (Spanish) and understand the student expectations and policies to enforce as a substitute teacher.

Verification oaths are submitted online and are maintained in the administration office.

Standard Response Protocol  (12 minute video)

___Fingerprinted (cost approx. $50)

___Transcript (High School, College) or equivalent
